This is a full day event, featuring guest speakers and workshops exploring the intricacies of WordPress.

Based on the feedback, there will be components for all attendees, and "blogger" and "technical" streams (split into 50 minute components, so people can pick and choose presentations or workshops from either stream). There will also be a "Campout", where people can showcase their own work or lead discussions on specific topics in an informal setting.

Users of both WordPress.com, and the open source (single or MU) version from WordPress.org are welcome and encouraged to attend.

As details are finalized, they will be updated on the website at WordCampVictoria.ca.

It was an awesome group of people all talking about Wordpress and social media. It was my first experience at a WordCamp event and it won't be the last.

Thanks for a well organized event. In the future I would suggest beginner, intermediate and advanced sessions for each of the two streams.

    Great venue!

What a great way for people to share their knowledge. Thanks for organizing this Paul and co. Us Salt Springers had to leave before the final session to catch a ferry - so just wanted to say thanks to all the great presenters here. THANKS.

    •  WordCamp was a great way to meet other people interested in blogging and specifically using Wordpress. As a newbie, I personally would have appreciated seeing a rating for how well you know the material. For example, was it aimed at beginners, advanced users or all levels. Also, Catherine's suggestion that seeing a technical, writing and also a designer stream would be nice. That is an area I hadn't considered. And could help me understand better another area. The cost was great and was one of the reasons I did attend this session. The food was great and a nice bonus. Heating- well can the next one be in May or early October. Then the cold will not be so much of an issue. Speakers - interesting and entertaining. Cheers Maureen Parker Moasis Media
    •  As a very new blogger I was overwhelmed by the amount of information, but not dismayed by it. The presenter were all top notch and I felt that I got some very timely information. Now the real work begins....
    •  Thanks to all the organizers and presenters at WordCamp Victoria. I learned so much and need to take time to digest the information. I appreciate that lunch was provided too. Amazed at how quickly Word Camp came together and how many people attended. Next time I suggest, in addition to the two streams - a beginners, intermediate, advanced for each stream. Thanks. Janis
    •  The level of expertise was incredible. Learned a lot and made connections with new people closeby doing similar stuff.
    •  I enjoyed the Camp and felt it was worth every penny and every minute. I learned a lot and I absorbed a lot of motivation and inspiration. Met some new friends (and possible business contacts), and got reacquainted with some old friends. However, I did feel a little intimidated at the level of some of the technical talks, in terms of the amount of knowledge I don't have -- coding abilities, and amount experience with WordPress. The fact I don't know much about coding, etc., is no surprise to me, and it didn't put me off the experience. I could have used some really basic information, too.

It exceeded all my expectations - thanks for a great day!
    •  Sessions were informative and well attended. Some felt too short but most fit in the time allowed. A third full room for more spacious self-organizing sessions (rather than mixing with coffee crowd) would be a great addition. For a first (of what should be annual) event it was an impressive outing.

It was a great meetup with lots of good information for everyone there. Picked up a few tips about thing I had not thought about before.
    •  WordCamp Victoria 2009 was very enjoyable. I spent most of my time in the Technical Stream, even though I had planned on attending mostly the Blogging Stream which left me wondering what I missed over there. I found that much of the Technical Stream content was already familiar to me, however there definitely things I learned, particularly in Ross Dunn's presentation.
    •  Loved it! I learned so much. It would have been great to have all the talks recorded and then available for sale afterwards. Sessions on WordPress MU, e-commerce and plugins would be really nice in the next one.

Well, I had a good time.
    •  Overall very good, although would have liked to have seen some more advanced chats. The Campout was useful & connecting with others who are using WordPress in the same way as I am was good.
    •  It was my first experience at a Wordpress Camp and it was an excellent experience. Got to learn some neat blog/tech tips and meet other bloggers and developers. And hanging out at The Office afterwards was good too.
    •  The highlight was the campout area. At first I would have preferred more in-depth, technical talks, but I realize that that's probably not a big market, and a robust campout area is just fine instead.
    •  Presenters were really approachable and didn't lose the audience. My fear was that I would be left behind (I was in the developer stream) and I wasn't. People were really friendly and generous. The complete event was well-organized, streamlined, flowed well.
    •  Worked really well. Thanks to organizers and speakers. I will definitely come again if there is another.
    •  Great information sharing, great hospitality, well organized. Thanks all who organized this!
    •  I particularly like the presenter approach who built a website for their presentation materials. I would like to hear more about Search Engine Optimization. Perhaps we could create a post on the message board to list of all the Favorite Plugins that people have found, with a brief description of each.

Paul put together a fantastic event. It was great to have some time to sit and chat with WP and blogging enthusiasts from all sorts of places and levels of experience. Can't wait to reconnect and do this again...eventually, of course!
    • Workshop Facilitator
Great opportunity to get to know some of the local bloggers and developers who are working with Wordpress and learn from the collective wisdom of the Wordpress community here in Victoria!
    • Workshop Facilitator
Great day - sorry I wasn't able to make it to all the sessions.
    •  I picked up lots of very useful information. Thanks to Paul for organizing the meeting
    •  I thought it was well organized and the speakers were well prepared. I would have like to learn more about plugins and what plugins are available. I thought that having many speakers for short periods was a great way to cover lots of topics in a short period. I also liked the two streams of technical and blogging. I was only interested in the technical component and it allowed me to streamline my time.
    •  It was great! Informative speakers. The ability to choose what path you wanted to learn more about (blogger/technical). I learned a lot. I thought it was well planned and set up well!
    •  Was there an opportunity to have our hands held while we work on improving our site?

There were interesting sessions at WordCamp, however the focus was too business-oriented. I was looking for some sessions that were specific to the use of WordPress in higher ed. Best practices, innovative/creative uses of WordPress as CMS for teaching and learning. Other possible sessions: WordPress MU and developing for WordPress.
    •  great people, very useful ideas. well-organized, overall a great experience for all levels of wp users.
    •  Some of the tech talks were pretty basic and I felt that many people in my group already knew most of the basics, however the SEO talk was very useful. And the networking was the best part. I discovered a piece of software that will revolutionize the way I design websites so it was worth every penny plus some.
